SoftAcid II
SoftAcid II is a patented mixture of organic acids and modified lignosulphonic acids. This special combination considerably reduces the aggressiveness of commercial organic acids like formic and propionic acid.
In comparison with purely organic acids, SoftAcid II is only slightly corrosive and does not cause chemical burns in case of contact with the skin.
SoftAcid II is not classified as a hazardous material.
Performance Parameters
The excellent properties of SoftAcid II as feed acid have been tested and proven in extensive institute and field tests. At the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences, a feeding experiment with young piglets showed that the use of SoftAcid II led to an improvement of the performance parameters (daily weight gain and feed utilisation).
In one group, a very high dosage of 2% SoftAcid II was selected to test the taste properties of SoftAcid II. No impairment of the feed consumption at a high dosage could be determined. SoftAcid II is tasty and is well accepted by animals.

Field Tests
Oft-repeated field tests in Germany were able to demonstrate that effects almost identical to a formic/propionic acid mixture were achieved using SoftAcid II as feed acid, whereby the daily increases in the SoftAcid II group were somewhat higher.

Recommended Dosage
For the acidification and simultaneous preservation of mash, we recommend the following dosage of SoftAcid II:

Before the start of a drinking trough water or liquid feed acidification with SoftAcid II, we recommend that the lines and drinking troughs be cleaned with SoftAcid II to remove the existing film of biological matter from the lines.
Procedure: Allow mixture of water and 2% SoftAcid II to soak for 2 – 3 hours and then rinse them carefully with water to remove the dissolved film of biological matter from the lines and drinking troughs. Animals may not imbibe the dissolved biological matter!
